Auntsfield Single Vineyard Pinot Noir
Auntsfield Estate Single Vineyard Pinot NoirAuntsfield Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is a deep ruby colour.
There are aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and Doris plum aromas are complimented by more savoury aromas of dark chocolate, forest floor, cigar box and floral notes.
The palate of this wine shows a rich silky texture which is full and concentrated. Interwoven flavours of spice, dark fruit and savoury characters are revealed by a succulent and fine tannin structure.
The structure of Auntsfield Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is tight, yet rich and full with seamless length.
Auntsfield Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir was made with a minimalist philosophy, designed to enable the characteristics of the grapes and the vineyard to be revealed.
The fruit was hand-harvested, hand-sorted, gently destemmed and gravity-fed to tank.
Fermented with a combination of indigenous and cultured yeasts, careful hand plunging was utilised to gently extract flavours and tannins from the skins. Maturation occurred in French oak barriques for approximately 10 months.
Auntsfield was bought by the Cowleys in the early 90’s when it was still an unplanted cattle farm.
However, when they researched the property they discovered it had actually produced wine from 1873 through to 1925 which made it the first commercial winery in Marlborough planted some 100 years before anywhere else!
David Herd was a man with imagination. In 1854 he arrived in New Zealand and looked at the land he was farming. While everyone around him was looking around and thinking “sheep” he looked at it and thought “wine”.
With this vision he became Marlborough’s founding winemaker. This is now a region famed throughout the world for it’s wine, but it was Herd who first saw that potential.
He decided that the landscape, the soil and the weather were all perfect for wine. Hidden away on the vineyard is Herd’s original wine cellar. The place he created and stored his first wines. Which you can see on their logo.

Auntsfield New Zeland Haw hill Pinot Noir 2012
Auntsfield’s Single Block Pinot Noir comes from a four-hectare block situated on their steepest hillside. It's named "Hawk Hill" after the Kahu, native Harrier Hawks, that fly the thermal air currents hunting for their prey. These elegant birds are an asset to the vineyard as they scare away smaller birds wanting to peck our ripening grapes, inflicting damage.
Coincidentally, Auntsfield founder David Herd's wife, Helen, grew up in Hawkhill, Dundee in Scotland, giving a double meaning to the wine's name.

The South-Easter, known locally as the Cape Doctor, is our prevailing wind in summer. In Elgin, the Cape Doctor blows cold sea air over the vineyards and blankets the valley under cloud. In order to achieve a balanced and complex vintage, the vineyards we have selected are cultivated on clay and calcareous hillsides. This type of location provides favourable sun exposure conditions on the hillsides as well as sufficient water reserves in the limestone earth so that the vineyards can reach its desired maturity.
The very mild winter was accompanied by heavy rainfall (+300mm accumulated in January). Spring continued with a rainy period, the likes of which are rarely seen in Roussillon (the equivalent of a whole year’s rainfall in a single month). These beneficial Roussillon rains came just when the vines were at their most sensitive, particularly to mildew but due to quick adaptation of viticultural practices its development was contained, but not without a notable loss of volume. But in the end, the rains made it possible to regulate the vines for the summer, avoiding hydric stress and producing a more bountiful vintage than in 2019. The arrival of the summer was perfectly timed for the continued development of the grape bunches and the beginning of ripening. Even though it was very hot and very dry, the accumulated water reserves brought the healthy harvest to optimum ripeness. The 2020 harvest was much more condensed than other years: all picked in four weeks, erasing the maturity discrepancies between the whites of Collioure and Latour de France, among others. The Collioure vines took advantage of this sunny climate, without water stress, to produce pure, elegant wines. On Latour de France and Lesquerde, the water and summer heat contributed to very well-balanced, structured wines. The biodynamic wine-making process revealed silky tannins and a beautiful aromatic complexity.
The harvest is carried out at night to protect the grapes from oxidation and thereby obtain richer yet fresher wines. The pressing is direct, without maceration, and alcoholic fermentation is carried out at low temperature. As soon as the alcoholic fermentation has ended, the wines are cooled and left to mature on fine lees so as to reinforce their minerality which is much appreciated here at M. CHAPOUTIER.
Try with summer vegetable mini-crumbles, seafood kebabs or tagliatelle pasta and vegetables.

Groote Post Sauvignon Blanc
Seasalter is Groote Post’s highly acclaimed flagship Sauvignon Blanc with a dash of oak and Semillon. This historic and award-winning Darling Hills estate makes yet another wine that is unique in its story, terroir, and taste.
It all happened with owner, Nick Pentz and the sea. Back in 2013, on one of his wine marketing trips to the UK, Groote Post owner Nick visited the tiny mediaeval village of Seasalter, which had been a centre for salt production in the Iron Age.
“I immediately loved the name Seasalter as it was so reminiscent of Groote Post overlooking the icy Atlantic Ocean,” Nick explains. “I knew straight away that Seasalter, as a name, would find its way into the world of Groote Post in years to come, not being sure at that stage in what guise it would be.”
“Lukas Wentzel, our winemaker, had for many years been experimenting with Sauvignon Blanc, partial oaking, and the addition of Semillon. Lukas one day said to me that he had an interesting wine of top quality that he wanted to get into bottle, a 2015 vintage of Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon.”
The Seasalter 2022 vintage nose shows fruit notes of passionfruit, yellow stone fruit, guava and fynbos. The palate offers tropical fruit notes with hints of salinity and minerality, followed by a long lingering finish.
The Seasalter is a blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Semillon with 30% of the Sauvignon Blanc was fermented and aged for 8 months in a 300 litre French Oak barrels. The remaining components were fermented in stainless steel tanks and left on the fine lees.

With a fresh floral nose and an exciting acid balance, William Robertson Chenin Blanc can be enjoyed now with seafood, smoked salmon, roast chicken and pork.
Winery
During the late 19th century, a worker community occupied the land where the Robertson Winery now stands, they built a stone church and their congregation were served by missionaries.
When Robertson Winery was established in 1941, the small church was no longer in use and the winery acquired the building for its winemaking and cellaring operations. http://www.newgenerationwines.com/wineries/robertson-winery
Today, the historic church still plays an important role in the maturation of the wines.
The fruit was sourced from 35 specially selected grape growing families in the Robertson Valley.
Vines are grown in deep cool alluvial soil that is rich in lime and receives an annual rainfall of only 280 mm per year.
Our Chenin Blanc vines are planted on the riverbanks with a row direction from northwest to southeast to utilize the prevailing sea breeze.
The sea breeze cools down the fruit, extends the ripening period and builds up concentrated flavours in the grapes.
The average annual rainfall is supplemented by controlled drip irrigation from the Breede River.

Kintyre Botanical Gin
A beautifully blended spirit using carefully selected botanicals which reflect our unique coastal, pasture and woodland position on the east coast of the Kintyre peninsula.Tasting notes: delicate floral notes and citrus body, with a juniper and spice finish.
Suggested serve: We believe our gin is equally at home being served neat on the rocks or with a premium tonic. Each and every palate is different, however we would suggest using Fever-Tree Mediterranean with a sprig of basil, or perhaps a naturally light tonic with some fresh mint.
